If you were hoping to see Evil Dead’s boomstick-toting Ash Williams outside the confines of Evil Dead: The Game, you might have to fight Bruce Campbell about it. In a chat with The AV Club (spotted by TheGamer), the long-time Ash actor shot down the notion of the character putting in an appearance in Mortal Kombat 12—or any other non-Evil Dead game, for that matter—saying that characters from other series ought to be coming over to Evil Dead, instead.

The modding team behind this retrofit remaking The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion within The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim Special Edition streamed a four-hour gameplay demonstration and Q&A session, showing the current state of the project.

While showing off various outfits like guard uniforms and glass armor, they roamed across plenty of recognizable parts of Oblivion and take on some sidequests. In the early 1980s Universal was looking to get in on the videogames market, and its hard-nosed president Sid Sheinberg particularly noted the success of Nintendo’s Donkey Kong. Sheinberg was a lawyer by training and, looking at Donkey Kong, he saw a potential infringement on Universal’s copyright for King Kong: nevermind the name, both had gorillas and a damsel in distress. 

Sheinberg felt Universal was owed and began putting the squeeze on several videogame companies over King Kong, including Nintendo, but the Donkey Kong creator was the only one that didn’t buckle. Instead Nintendo fought and, in a case that ran from 1982 with a final appeal in 1984, won a decisive victory: Donkey Kong did not infringe on Universal’s copyright, and remained Nintendo’s character.

House Flipper 2, a game for people who want to fix up rental properties on the weekend without engaging in problematic real world activities like buying real estate or inhaling black mold, got a big free update last week.

The new update, Summer in Old Pinnacove, adds a downtown area to explore and a new job that sees players helping out a guy named Simon, whose allergies are complicating his apartment glow-up. It’s also got 150 new items, some of which really stuck out to me:

It should come as no surprise that Zack Snyder is up for making a Fortnite movie, if anyone is shopping around for a director. It would be a licence to print money. It could be a complete stinker and it would still probably be the most watched movie of all time. If Epic’s interested, I’d also be down for making one. I need the cash.

One of the best co-op games, and one of oh-so-few stealth co-op joints around, Styx: Shards of Darkness, is 85% off (just $2.99) for another couple days. With the Steam Summer Sale not quite closed, it’s not too late to toss some pocket change at another couple games. Better yet, talk a friend into playing with you.

I routinely cycle back through my whingeing that co-op campaigns just don’t exist like they used to and Styx: Shard of Darkness was the answer to my grievances when I picked it up a couple years back. It’s a proper stealth romp with large levels to dissect by picking off guards and avoiding combat with darkness and crawl spaces. All you’ve got to suffer for it are some bottom-shelf scatological jokes from a snarky goblin.

Image host Imgur announced a change to its terms of service on April 19 that will ban NSFW content, as well commence the deleting of an unspecified number of older images “not tied to a user account.” The announced changes are set to take effect on May 15. Imgur did not respond to a request for comment in time for publication.

Imgur was founded in 2009 as a way of hosting and sharing images intended for other social networks⁠—for a long time, it was the default way to attach images to Reddit posts, for example, but also saw extensive use on other sites and forums.
